Let's Skate Program

St. Paul is delighted to announce the 'St. Paul Let's Skate Program powered by the OSEG Foundation.' Andrea Guzzo, parent, and Kendra Hollingsworth, Grade 7/8 Curriculum Leader for Phys. Ed have worked with the Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group Foundation (OSEG Foundation) to give every student at the school the opportunity to skate.

Six charitable organizations were solicited to get funding to support this endeavour.

Happily, the OSEG Foundation is funding this initiative (www.osegfoundation.ca).

Through their donation, we were able to purchase skates, three storage units and a skate sharpening machine (yet to be purchased), extra skate laces, etc. 79% of our Grades 7 & 8 do not have skates or access to them. We now have enough skates to service two Phys. Ed classes at a time.

Much thanks is extended to the City of Ottawa who despite having already made the decision to close the rink at Morrison Park, reopened it to support the school.

Lee Valley Tools is maintaining the rink and has been a great support. We had 20 pairs of skates donated by a charity. Signage for the program has been donated by Gunn Media. 30 new helmets, to complement the school's existing helmets, were purchased with a discounted price courtesy of CCM and Play it Again Sports Kanata.
