Dear Parent/Guardian:

St. Paul HS was temporarily placed in a Shelter in Place mode today from approximately 12:55 pm to the end of the school day as we were informed by the Ottawa Fire Department that a gas line was compromised across the street on Draper Avenue.

While in Shelter in Place, students are kept in their classrooms with the classroom doors closed and teachers were instructed to close their windows and continue with normal instructional routines. The students and staff were instructed on how to exit the building at the end of the day. These instructions were given based on a consultation with Enbridge staff and the school vice principal to ensure everybody’s safety. At no time was there any immediate concern for the safety or security of students at the school. The Shelter in Place was called in conjunction with the Ottawa Fire Department.

Should you require any further information, please contact the school.

Sincerely,

Marline Al Koura,

Vice Principal, St. Paul HS
