Chaplain's Message

This month has been filled with excitement as students prepare for the end of the school year. We celebrated our Grad Mass with Fr. Titus from St. Martin de Porres Parish, who encouraged our graduating students to lean into gratitude for others, joy in their experiences, and hope for their futures. 

During this busy time for students and families, I invite everyone to find small moments of peace and rest - this might be going for a short walk, calling a loved one, or simply taking a few deep breaths.

Let us pray: 

+ Loving God, we ask that you enrich our community with your many blessings. Give our graduating students courage and confidence as they begin the next chapter of their lives. Calm the minds and hearts of all our students who are completing final assignments, RSTs, and exams. Bless our families as they prepare for the new routines of the summer season. Let our community build bridges of peace, connection, and love. + 

School Council Message

As the school year comes to a close, the St Paul School Council wants to take a moment to reflect on our achievements, celebrate our community, and extend a massive thank you to everyone who supported our initiatives this year.

We are a "small but mighty" group of dedicated parents and guardians, and while we are proud of what we accomplished this year, we are looking to grow! Next year, we hope to expand our council to include more members from a variety of different grade levels and from different feeder schools. Whether you have an hour to spare or want to take on a bigger role, your voice matters, and we would love to have you join us.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our school community, we had a fantastic year of fundraising. Our two main initiatives, the Fresh Wreath Sales in the fall and our ongoing School Cash Online Donations, raised a grand total of $2,108.20!

These funds have gone directly back to support the students. School Council has sponsored 3 $500 bursaries for the upcoming grade 12 graduation to cover all three streams of learning, $600 to help offset the cost of Leadership Camp and $1500 towards purchasing a new St. Paul mascot. Next year, we wish to continue to offer the 3 bursaries, Leadership Camp sponsorship and assist with Christmas Hamper purchases.

Every wreath purchased and every dollar donated, helps us enrich the high school experience for our teens. We truly could not do this without the continued support of our St. Paul community. On behalf of the School Council, we want to wish everybody a safe, happy, and healthy summer break. We look forward to seeing you all—and hopefully some new faces on the council—in September!

End Of Year Assessment Schedules

RSTs (Rich Summative Tasks) - All Grades

RSTs are being completed in the months of May and June.  All RSTs must be completed before the exam period.  Students and parents will be made aware of the RST schedule by each individual teacher. The RST typically makes up between 15 and 30% of a course's final grade. 

FCAs (Final Course Assessments) - Grade 9 students only 

In line with Ministry of Education objectives, in place of final exams, grade nine students are required to complete a final course assessment at a pre-scheduled time. Students are expected to be in class, following the schedule below. Student activities may include work associated with the students' RST, taking place during a final class (up to 120 minutes) during the HS exam period. 

Exam Schedule - Grade 10 - 11 Students only

Exams are scheduled for June 18, 19, 22, 23 (and possibly 24). The exam schedule will follow the order of courses in a day (ie: Period 1 exams will be written on June 18). All exams begin at 8:15am. Students are expected to be at school, ready to begin, by 8:00am. If there is a major disruption, and exams have to be cancelled, all exams will be rescheduled to the following day.

Students should not miss exams unless they are very ill.  Vacations are not an acceptable reason for missing exams.  Students who are absent on an exam day must provide a doctor’s note and make arrangements with the teacher and their vice principal to reschedule the writing of their exams. The last day of classes for grade 9 - 11 courses is June 17.

Exam Schedule - Grade 12 courses

Grade 12 exams for their periods one and two classes will follow the same schedule as grades 10 - 11 (see schedule above). However, because grade 12 marks are due at an earlier date, their period 3 and 4 exams will be written prior to the regular exam period, on June 16 and 17. These exams will all begin at 8:15 am, and students are expected to be at school and ready to begin by 8:00 am. The last day of classes for grade 12 courses is June 15. 

Other Important Dates 

• Jun 24, 2026 - Credit Intervention Day: Some students will be invited back to school to complete additional assignments. This is a teacher-based decision and will be communicated to students and parents individually. 

• Jun 26, 2026 - PD Day for all students. 

Yearbook Distribution

The yearbook distribution will take place in Room 124 during HS period 2 for grade 12's and HS period 4 for all other grades (12:50 pm - 2:00 pm) starting Monday June 15. Students who have paid their student fee may come down on their designated day.

High School Distribution:

• Grade 12 – Monday June 15 Period 2

• Grade 11 – Monday June 15 Period 4

• Grade 10 – Tuesday June 16 Period 4

• Grade 9 – Tuesday June 16 Period 4

Intermediate Distribution:

• Grade 8 – Wednesday June 17 (12:50 pm - 2:00 pm)

• Grade 7 – Thursday June 18 (12:50 pm - 2:00 pm)

Make-Up Day:

• Absent Student Pick-Up – Friday June 19 (12:50-2:00)

Important Notes about pick up:

• Students may not pick up books for siblings or friends.

• Yearbooks cannot be purchased at this time – only those who have paid their student fee will receive a copy. If the student is not sure they can contact home and have their parents look up their receipt in their email inbox from schoolcashonline, if they have paid they will have a receipt for the 2025/2026 year.

• Students with eLearning during Period 2 or 4 may come on their own.

Ryan's Well Fundraiser

We are excited to invite our Grade 7 and 8 students to a special Ryan’s Well Fundraising Day on Thursday, June 18th! 

To participate in this outdoor field day, movie afternoon, and teacher "pie-in-the-face" event, each homeroom class is working together to pool cash-only for a $25 classroom buy-in. Beyond this team goal, you can purchase add-ons through SchoolCashOnline (or cash to room 232) until Monday, June 15th. These include a $5 food combo (chicken hot dog, chips, and a jumbo freezie) and raffle tickets ($1 to $25 bulk packages) for a chance to pie a teacher in the face. 

All proceeds go directly to the Ryan’s Well Foundation to fund life-changing clean water and sanitation projects in vulnerable communities worldwide. Everyone is encouraged to contribute a couple of dollars to their classroom cash pool and check SchoolCashOnline if you would like to purchase additional lunch or raffle items! This event is brought to you by a select group of students from our grade 7 religion classes. 

Cafeteria: Last Day is June 17

Please note that the last day for cafeteria services this school year will be Wednesday, June 17, 2026. After this date, all intermediate students will need to bring a packed lunch from home.

To ensure a smooth and disruption-free day for our students, please keep the following lunch policies in mind:

• No Third-Party Deliveries: For safety and logistical reasons, the main office cannot accept food deliveries from third-party services (e.g., UberEats, DoorDash).

• Parent Drop-Offs (Before 11:20 am): If you are dropping off a lunch for your child, please do so before 11:20 am. Students can head down to the office to collect it at the start of their lunch break.

• Plan Ahead: Please let your child know in the morning if you plan to drop off their food. To preserve valuable instructional time, the office will not interrupt classrooms to announce lunch arrivals.

• Late Drop-Offs (After 11:30 am): Any food dropped off after 11:30 am will be held in the Main Office and can be picked up by the student at the end of the school day.

Grade 8 Semi Formal Dance

On Friday, June 19th, the Grade 8 Semi-Formal Dance will be held at St. Paul High School. You may drop off your child at the back of the school (by the gymnasiums) anytime after 7:00 p.m. Please arrange to pick up your child no later than 9:00 p.m at the back of the school as well.

The cost for the evening is $7 per student and can be paid through School Cash Online. A light snack will be provided part way through the evening. It will consist of a small bag of chips or a cookie, and a bottle of water. The fee also covers the cost of the DJ for the evening. The deadline to pay is midnight on Sunday, June 14th. 

Students are asked to dress in semi-formal wear (no jeans or sweatpants) and to behave in accordance with school policy. No student will be readmitted to the dance once they have exited the building. Once students leave the building they must immediately leave school property because they are no longer under our supervision. Backpacks will not be permitted inside with any students. This event is for St. Paul students only.

40BY9 Success!

Our 40BY9 Pizza Party was a huge success!

Grade 9 students who have completed their 40 hours of community service celebrated together with a Pizza Party on Tuesday. 27 students celebrated their accomplishment with pizza, chips and a souvenir candy cup. Prizes were also given out for our top three students who recorded the most amount of volunteer hours. A few other students won raffled prizes and left with a gift certificate, tumbler, or t-shirt.  

The Challenge is now out to all our Grade 8 students! They can start recording community service hours this summer and any student who gets their 40 hours (or more) completed by June 1, 2027 will be invited to celebrate at the annual 40BY9 Party. We look forward to seeing how many of our current grade 8 students can complete the challenge next year!

Intermediate Athletics

Another great season of Intermediate Athletics is behind us. We ran 27 teams this season with a good mix of co-ed, travel, and one day tournament sports. Thank you to the many coaches who offered their time and expertise to run practices, travel with the team, and offer their sporting guidance. We are also very appreciative of the support we receive in athletics from the Administration team who supports our hectic schedules, thank you! 

We will celebrate our athletes on Tuesday, Jun 23, 2026 from 9-10:30am in the auditorium. You will receive communication from a coach if your son or daughter won an award.

High School Athletics

As we wrap up another outstanding athletic year, we want to congratulate all of our student-athletes on their dedication and achievements. The spring season saw our girls' soccer and flag football teams complete successful campaigns, while our boys' baseball team battled all the way to the championship game, finishing as finalists after an impressive season. 

A special congratulations goes to Emma Provost, who represented our school at the OFSAA Track and Field Championships in Niagara Falls, earning a 9th-place finish in the high jump. It has been a busy and rewarding year across all of our athletic programs, and we are already excited to build on this year's successes as we look ahead to next season.

Summer International Languages Program - Elementary

OCSB Continuing & Community Education is excited to share that registration is now open for our Summer International Languages Program - Elementary! 

The Summer International Languages Program offers students the opportunity to learn a new language or strengthen their home language through engaging activities such as music, art, storytelling, and cultural exploration. It is a meaningful way for students to build confidence, develop language skills, and connect with diverse cultures in a welcoming and inclusive environment.

The program runs from June 29 - July 31, 2026, at various OCSB locations, with classes available for students in Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8, and is free for Ontario residents. Learn More.

Applications for the 2026 Bled Future Achievers Leadership Forum Are Now Open!

The University of Ottawa, in partnership with Color In Practice, presents the annual Bled Future Achievers Leadership Forum, a 5‑day interactive leadership experience for 14 Black and Indigenous youth leaders (ages 14–18) from across Canada. The forum will take place in Ottawa from July 12–18, 2026, and will be delivered in English only. 

We would greatly appreciate it if you could circulate this information to students and within your networks. You will find attached a poster that you are welcome to print and display throughout your institution. 

The forum will feature interactive programming that promotes leadership, self-exploration, confidence, cross-community collaboration, and asset-based community development as tools for creating positive change in their communities.

Our mission at the forum is to connect and empower Black and Indigenous youth from across the country who are interested in social justice. Participants will build meaningful connections with peers while developing new skills and knowledge that will help them be better change makers.

The Forum is all expenses paid, which includes:

• Transportation to and from Ottawa

• Transportation during the forum

• Accommodation and meals

• Relevant activities and programming

• A safe and inclusive environment where everyone is welcome
